CV
Yaira Yonne (*1965) grew up in Freiburg im Breisgau. She received her training as a conductor in Frankfurt/Main (Jiri Starek), Lucerne (Thüring Bräm) and Paris (Dominique Rouits), where she graduated with distinction in 1999. Further important impulses she owes to her djembé teacher Pierre Favre.
Presently Yaira Yonne lives in Bern, Switzerland, as a freelance conductor, entertaining regular contacts to a variety of orchestras and ensembles. 1993 to 2009 she held the position of an instructor/lecturer for conducting at the Musikhochschule Luzern where she regularly worked with the Junge Philharmonie Zentralschweiz. Since 2003 she is the musical director of the Orchester Liestal.
Also, Yaira Yonne's interest in a broad variety of musical styles (and especially their intersections) have lead to her involvement in projects rangin from improvised contemporary classical music to steelpan orchestras and baroque operas. She also accompanies vocalists on the piano and conducts choirs.
